Taco Wiersma (1963) is a law graduate from Utrecht University. He started his career in Rotterdam at NautaDutilh in 1989 and headed this firm’s Amsterdam international trade and transport practice group from 1993 to 1996. Taco co-founded one of the firms that merged into Wiersma Mensonides.
Taco has wide ranging experience in all key aspects of international arbitration and commercial litigation with the emphasis on dry maritime cases, financial restructuring and recovery procedures, international trade disputes and claims involving political risk countries. His clients include banks, ship owners and their P&I Clubs, service providers in the dredging sector, traders and underwriters. Taco has particular expertise in tracing and recovery of assets, enforcement and injunction proceedings and international arbitration including ICC, ICSID, NAI and TAMARA. The international nature of his practise makes him deal with issues of jurisdiction, immunity and conflicts of law on a daily basis.
Taco is a football clubs’ and players’ agent licensed by the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB).
