Jan Meuleman (1970) graduated in law at the Free University of Amsterdam and at Columbia University School of Law in New York, where he obtained his LL.M. degree. Prior to founding the law firm Mensonides Meuleman with Hans Mensonides, which merged into Wiersma Mensonides in 2012, Jan worked for leading international Dutch law firms in Amsterdam where he specialized in banking, with a focus on banking litigation.
Jan litigates and advises in the fields of property, contract, insolvency and securities law. He has litigated various groundbreaking cases regarding the laws pertaining to security rights. He successfully completed the postdoctoral Grotius Academy programmes in Financing and Security Rights, Securities Laws and INSOLAD/Insolvency Law and is a member of the Association for Securities Law (Vereniging voor Effectenrecht).
Jan is dually qualified and admitted to the Bar of Amsterdam and New York.
