Aram (1971) studied Dutch law at the University of Groningen and started his legal career in 1998 at the law firm of Trenité Van Doorne (now Simmons & Simmons). Aram is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) and of the Netherlands Association for Maritime and Transport Law.
Aram is one of the founding partners of Wiersma Mensonides and specializes in finance and security related matters, with a focus on trade and ship finance. In addition to that he is experienced in ship building related matters, and general trade and transport law (contentious and non-contentious). Aram’s client base includes banks, ship yards, ship owners and commodity traders. Aram advises and litigates on all aspects of bilateral and syndicated lending relating to trade finance, ship finance and general corporate finance. In the field of shipbuilding Aram has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of shipbuilding, refit and repair contracts both for buyers and shipyards. When it comes to the recovery of distressed debt Aram is frequently involved in auctioning vessels, real estate and in collecting pledged/assigned commercial or insurance claims.
Aram Vos focuses on ship financing mandates, but also advises on more general transport and trade law. He advises shipowners, banks and trading companies. He is also regularly involved with ship auctions resulting from distressed debt. (Chambers & Partners, 2014)
